Hey all,

First of all, Fruita says thanks a ton to all those who came out and did the park clean up! They are very grateful and impressed we did that.

I just met with the City of Fruita Recreation about their first ever disc golf activity /event and no one has signed up for their tournament. We need to get some people signed up to show them that the Valley supports disc golf and that the Disc Golf Course is worth having and worth building a new course.

But first we need to get signed up for the event and play. It's a recreational, fun event to just have a good time, help out some new families in the sport etc..

If they don't get enough people signed up they will can the event, and that will be very bad for disc golf in Fruita.

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD, and get people signed up.

Here is the Info:

To register for the event please call: 858-0360 and ask to sign up for the Discs of Fury.

Let's show Fruita that we support disc golf and that disc golf is worth having in their activities!

it's the same weekend as snowmass. perhaps us out of towners can show support by signing up and paying but not playing... the $10 can go towards fruita disc golf. if i see you on the course i'll give you $10.

cheers,

joe

Event was canceled. Zero people signed up. So much for getting a new course in Fruita now.
I realize, if you can't win big stuff, most people don't want to play, but it was 10$, and the chance to prove to Fruita, that Disc Golf is worth their investment.
This makes me extremely sad and mad at the same time, that we couldn't pull together at least 10 people to play this event that Fruita took the time to advertise in the Free Press, our website, their activity guide and newsletter.
We even advertised it at the Monday night league.

If we want this valley to grow with more courses, etc... we need to support events like these that the towns and cities put on, or they will turn away from supporting disc golf course development.

Shame on us GVDGC.

FYI, I wasn't signed up, because I was helping Fruita with the logistics, and being an official as well as hosting a Skills clinic at the event.
