The following was posted on the Mile High forum by Pete Kenny. Any one want to take a shot at any of the scenarios?
1 - At the first MHDGC tage match of 2011 Mitch drives hole 15 at Johnny Roberts. His drive hits the tree that partly overhangs the water. Mitch believes his disc hit the tree while over inbounds and he should play his 3rd shot from across the creek. Robert, Tom, and Ben believed Mitch’s shot never crossed over the creek and hit the tree while over out of bounds and Mitch needs to throw his 3rd shot from the tee. Larry was playing hole 2 at the time and said he saw it and Mitch was over inbounds. He said he is an official and since it isn’t his division, he can over-rule groups decisions and Mitch gets to throw from across the creek and being Mitch, he hits his long par putt. Was anyone in the wrong?
2 - At the same MHDGC tag match Michelle Burghardt is playing hole 9. the short blind shot towards the creek. She throws a nice looking shot and no one sees it land because of the trees. When the group approaches the basket they see her shot is wedged in the side of the basket. What will her score be on this hole?
3 - Michelle now plays the short open #10. She throws the world famous Burghardt thumber that drops down directly on the top of the basket where it somehow sneaks through the top and settles in the chains. What will her score be for this hole?
4 - Kyle is playing hole 1 at Johnny on the same day. There was a large puddle near the sidewalk that had been declared casual water. His drive lands in the casual water. Kyle knows that last year he could only take relief 5 m on a line straight back. That wouldn’t work since he would still be in the puddle. He knows the rules have changed and he can know go back as far as he needs to under the new optional relief rule. So he takes his 11 m relief straight back and slams the long putt. What does Kyle score for this hole?
5 - For the second round that day several baskets moved and some new rules put in play. Hole 1 was long across the creek and it was OB between the sidewalk and the creek. Larry stepped up to the tee and gave his disc a mighty heave. He knew he was close but wasn’t sure so he played a provisional. His provisional went right under the basket. His 1st drive turned out to be safe but left near the bridge and in thick bushes lurking with danger.. Larry used his knowledge of the new 2011 rules and decided to use his provisional under the optional re-throw rule and take his 4. Should Larry be patted on the back for knowing the new rules or kicked in the butt for misusing the new rules?

I am no RULE NATIZE, but I did here that the disc stuck in the side of the basket Does Not count any more along with going through the top so I would say the anser to # 2& 3 is Michelle gets a two on both holes.

Nice shot Dave!!!!
You're absolutely right about the new through the top rule and she should get a 2 on #3.
However, on #2 you are only partially right.
Anyone else want to try???

My understanding of the new "wedgie" rule is that they don't count from the outside but they do count from the inside. Since noone can verify that Michelle's disc didn't not go into the basket first before wedging (blind basket), she gets the ace and claims the ace pool.
A few hints on the others:
1 is a trick question
4 is easy
5 is a new rule that will generate tons of discussion this year and has very interesting implications.
